At present, the Indigenous People Center of Houston operates from a modest office in conjunction with the Southern Apache Museum (SAM) at 5600 N. W. Central Dr., Houston, TX 77092. Additionally involved is the American Indian Genocide Museum (AIGM) and the American Indian Center (AIC). Phase 1, initiated on May 13, 2022, is dedicated to the foundational groundwork and planning for the forthcoming center.
(Phase 2), which is scheduled for 1/1/2025, we will move into the design and schematics stage. This phase will include creating detailed plans and schematics for the building. It's a critical step in the project's development as it lays the foundation for the construction phase.
Phase 3 (Target Date: 1/1/2029) involves pre-construction management and procurement. During this stage, we will handle the necessary paperwork, permits, and insurance requirements. We will also gather vendor bids to ensure that the project aligns with our budget expectations. Additionally, this phase involves establishing the field team that will work on-site.
Phase 4 and Phase 5 (Target Date: 12/1/2030), which encompass the construction and site preparation stages. This is when the actual construction work will take place, and the site will be prepared for the upcoming construction activities. It will involve meetings to establish guidelines and groundbreaking to kick off the construction.
